【JOB RESPONSIBILITIES】
Provide leadership in guiding the Project design with General Contractor and design consulting teams for both architecture and interiors.
Work with our Japan team and other project stakeholders to develop design development strategies that allow for creative design and great customer experiences within the bounds of our project budget.
Work with our stakeholders and consultants to create unity of design with lighting, signage, FFE, and artwork.
Attend design related project meetings and represent our interests and positions related to design.
Review designs and provide clear and concise design direction to design teams.
Review drawings and plans submitted by Architects and Design Consultants for conformance to the documented space and provide direction to Architects, Designers, and other consultants.
Provide direction for and/or review technical design, FFE design and specifications provided by Architects,
Designers and General Contractors.
Lead and manage our Japan team of design managers.
Work closely with our development partner to build consensus around design decisions.
Communicate, present, and discuss design directions and decisions with US based our project stakeholders.
Be prepared to conduct frequent site visits and on-site coordination meetings as the project moves to the construction phase of work.
Support the development of and review & comment on various governmental permit and approval documents.
Participate in and represent us at government meetings related to the IR project.
【REQUIREMENTS】
Mandatory:
Appropriate degree in related field or equivalent experience.
15 years previous experience in Design of large scale projects, with a minimum of 3 years of leadership experience.
Bilingual (Native Japanese with some level of English fluency).
Cultural intelligence, empathy, and competence necessary for effective collaboration with international partners.
Flexible talent management skill-set to successfully develop teams following the norms of Japanese and American business.
Ability to concisely and effectively communicate design criteria to design teams to create cohesive design language.
Strong presentation skills, specifically in an executive leadership setting.
Excellent organization skills to function effectively with attention to detail while meeting established deadlines.
Desirable:
Previous experience in successful large scale developments and hospitality projects.
Proficient understanding and experience in designing each of the holistic elements of an IR.
Previous experience in construction administration, specifically overseeing compliance from general contractors/architects of record.
