Multinational company that produces and sells tobacco and nicotine products

The Indirect Sourcing Manager oversees all indirect sourcing in Japan, working with local stakeholders to meet business needs and align with procurement strategy. They collaborate with Global Procurement, support the Japan procurement team’s development, and manage the sourcing-to-contract process.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Engagement
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders to fully understand business needs, goals, and direction while ensuring excellent customer service.

Sourcing Management
  • Oversee sourcing activities to align with category strategies and maximize value while meeting business requirements.

Supplier Management
  • Implement supplier segmentation and management strategies in line with procurement objectives to optimize supplier relationships and value.

Functional Management
  • Manage spending and team resources within the approved budget.

  • Develop and oversee resource planning for procurement teams while supporting alignment across the region.

Change Management
  • Lead the implementation of new processes, category strategies, and sourcing strategies at both regional and market levels.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional knowledge of procurement principles and approach, gained through a minimum of 5 years operational experience.

  • Strong business sense and commercial awareness

  • A broad understanding of the role and impact of procurement 

  • Sound knowledge of company policies platforms and standards and legislation to ensure the creation of effective and binding contracts.

  • Strong change management capabilities to establish new ways of working.

  • High fluency both in English and Japanese

  • CIPS Corporate Diploma in Purchasing and/or membership of The Chartered Institute for Purchasing and Supply or equivalent country qualification or membership would be an advantage.
